33rd SIMA formation day was celebrated in a grand manner at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan on 7th Nov 2011.Swami Jnanadananda, Adhyaksha of Ramakrishna Mission, Hyderabad was the chief guest on the occasion. The function was inaugurated by Swamiji by lighting a big brass lamp on the stage with a backdrop of a large portrait of Chatrapathi Shivaji Maharaj. The chief guest spoke briefly but delivered an enlightening message. |

Several eminent persons of our community like Dr. P. N. Rao, a renowned gastro-enterologist of the country, Sri. Ananda Rao Vasishta who has been working single handedly on reviving ‘Thanjavur Marathi’ by writing out a dictionary and grammar, Sri. K.V.Madhan ,CEO of K.V.Madhan & Associates, Chennai and a founding member, Sri.C.B.S Ramachandra Rao, I.A.S (retd.),Sri. T.D.Mohan Rao ,a senior official of GHMC were all specially felicitated by the chief guest on the occasion. |

The chief guest also released a souvenir brought out befitting the occasion. Sri. A.K.T Janak, President of SIMA, Sri. S.Ramnath, Secretary ,Sri.T.D.Sudhakar, Convenor of the formation day function and related cultural and sports activities and Sri.Krishna Baji ,past president spoke briefly to highlight the activities of SIMA as well as the future plans. Prizes were distributed to the winners of various cultural and sports events in the run up to the formation day function. |

The most spectacular and entertaining part of the function was the dance ballet and music ensemble “Tamasoma Jyothirgamaya”(40 member concert),conceived, directed and conducted by Sri. Ashok Gurzale, famous violinist, music teacher and a music director. The dance ballet was directed and performed by Dr. Anuradha Jonnalagadda along with her students. Some of the talented girls from amongst SIMA members also danced to popular film tunes. A few SIMA ladies performed a short skit which was well received. Sri.Ashok Gurzale and Dr. Anuradha were also felicitated by the chief guest. |

| SIMA has responded well to the needs of the SIMA community as well as the community at large. |
|
Get togethers of SIMA families are organized once a quarter with an annual picnic at which various games and competitions are held. Literary/cultural competitions are held once a year and prizes distributed to the winners/participants. |
|
Medical check-ups are organized once a year for the SIMA families.Medical camps are held once or twice a year in rural areas at which free medicines/walkers/calipers etc.are distributed to the economically backward sections. |
|
| Educational scholarships are awarded to deserving students from amongst SIMA members and outsiders. |
